ParaSim
A paragliding simulator for Mac and iPad.
Pick a mountain range, launch above the real terrain, fly in the weather of the day.
macOS 14 or later · iPadOS 17 or later · currently in private beta
The whole world, for real
- Drop a pin on the 3D satellite map: the real terrain (40 km around the launch) loads with its satellite imagery
- Eleven classic sites: Forclaz, Planpraz, Samoëns, Le Môle, Mieussy, Saint-Hilaire, Puy de Dôme, Dune du Pilat, Val Louron, Beatenberg, Col Rodella
- Real weather (Open-Meteo): wind by altitude layer, boundary layer, cloud cover, radiation, hour by hour over six days, or set it yourself
- Sun position computed for the time and place, valley breeze, evening restitution, clouds by layer
Air that behaves like air
- Thermals drifting downwind and marked by cumulus, ridge lift on windward slopes, rotors in the lee
- Turbulence, asymmetric and frontal collapses to counter on the brakes, stalls, spirals with G-load, big ears, wing-overs
- Four wings (EN A to EN D) and four harnesses (standard or pod, with or without a seat board)
The flight school
- Training slope, first high flight, circuit approach with gates, first thermal
- An instructor guides you over the radio; instruments are earned as you progress
- Airtime, height gain, distance, thermals climbed and landing quality all build experience and levels
Controls
- Mac: left and right arrows for the brakes, down to brake and flare, up for the speed bar, E for big ears, C camera, V vario, Esc pause, R restart
- iPad: on-screen brake zones and buttons, or tilt the tablet for weight shift
- An internet connection is needed the first time a site loads
